Don't Miss a Beat
I'm posting this because this month of February, supposedly Heart's Month as others claimed, I've been hearing news of death because of heart attack. Fact shows that Disease of the Heart is still the number one cause of mortality here in the Philippines.
In nursing, we called this Myocardial Infarction (MI), but its commonly known as heart attack. A heart attack happens when an artery that carries blood to the heart becomes blocked. This stops oxygen and nutrients from reaching part of the heart muscle. If blood flow is not restored quickly, some of the cells that make up the heart muscle become damaged and start to die. The longer it takes for treatment to be started, the more damage to the heart.
Although women often think of heart attack as something that affects mainly men, heart disease is the number one killer of women. According to Women's Heart Organization 42% of women who have heart attacks die within 1 year, compared to 24% of men.Under age 50, women’s heart attacks are twice as likely as men’s to be fatal. And yes, young women can have heart attacks too! :( The first step toward surviving a heart attack is learning to recognize the symptoms. The most common signs of heart attack in both women and men are:
Know the Symptoms
1.Unusually heavy pressure on the chest, like there's a ton of weight on you
Most heart attacks involve chest pain or discomfort in the center or left side of the chest. It usually lasts for more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back. It can feel like uncomfortable pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain. It may even feel like heartburn or indigestion.
Did you know: Not all women have chest discomfort or other common symptoms during their heart attack. When in doubt, check it out.
2. Sharp upper body pain in the neck, back, and jaw
This symptom can include pain or discomfort in one or both arms, the back, shoulders, neck, jaw, or upper part of stomach (not below the belly button). Pain in the back, neck, or jaw is a more common heart attack symptom for women than it is for men.
3.Severe shortness of breath
This symptom can come on suddenly. It may occur while you are at rest or with minimal physical activity. You may struggle to breathe or try taking deep breaths. Shortness of breath may start before or at the same time as chest pain or discomfort, and can even be your only symptom.
4. Cold sweats, and you know it's not menopause
Unexplained or excessive sweating, or breaking out into a "cold sweat," can be a sign of heart attack.
5.Unusual or unexplained fatigue (tiredness)
Sudden and unusual tiredness or lack of energy is one of the most common symptoms of heart attack in women, and one of the easiest to ignore. It can come on suddenly or be present for days. More than half of women having a heart attack experience muscle tiredness or weakness that is not related to exercise.
6.Unfamiliar dizziness or light-headedness
Unlike in the movies, most heart attacks do not make you pass out right away. Instead, you may suddenly feel dizzy or light-headed.
7.Unexplained nausea (feeling sick to the stomach) or vomiting
Women are twice as likely as men to experience nausea, vomiting, or indigestion during their heart attack. These feelings are often written off as having a less serious cause. Remember, nausea and vomiting may be signs that something is seriously wrong, especially if you have other symptoms.
If you have any one of these symptoms and it lasts for more than five minutes, call for emergency medical care. Even if your symptoms go away in less than five minutes, call your doctor right away—it could be a sign that a heart attack is coming soon. Don't waste time trying home remedies or waiting for the feelings to pass on their own. Remember, quick treatment can save your life.
Did you know: The symptoms of a second heart attack can be different from the ones you had during your first heart attack.
Minutes Matter: Heart attack treatments work best when givenwithin one hour of when your symptoms started.
Within one hour: your risk of dying is cut in half
Within three hours: your risk of dying is cut by 25 percent
Every 30 minutes you wait to get help could takeone year off of your life!

Finding Your Face Shape
Thank you for this post by Kristin Ess in The Beauty Department site.
There are so many face shapes in this world. It seems like every time I read a story about finding “the right haircut” there are only 4 (maybe 5) face shapes to choose from– but not everyone can be squeezed into those little boxes. Over the years, I’ve spoken with many people who have always thought they were one face shape (and followed the guides for that face shape) only to learn that their face was another shape entirely. Perfect example– one of my clients had always thought she had a heart shaped face just because she had a pointed chin like Reese Witherspoon. The thing is, you can have the pointed chin of someone who has a heart-shaped face but if your hairline is more narrow, as my client’s was, you would fall more in the diamond family.
For today’s post, I’ve created a guide that should help you find your real face shape and in my next few posts, I’m going to be talking about what to do with each one. I really hope this helps and please keep in mind that it’s very common to fall into more than one face shape family!

Jehovah's Patience Leads to Salvation
The question is How? How is Jehovah God's patience lead to salvation? This is my theme for my Theocratic Ministry School part this coming Wednesday. I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and as a Bible student, I must prepare my part well. I thanked God for giving us this greatest education. Below is a must read.
We yearn for the day when God makes all things new, removing the problems we now face. Though we have ample reason for believing that the end of Satan’s system is very near, it can be difficult to wait patiently for that day.Yet, the Bible shows that we must have patience. Like God’s servants before us, we will receive what God has promised if we have strong faith and wait patiently for his time to fulfill those promises. Jehovah himself has been patient. He could have put an end to wickedness at any time, but he is waiting for the right time. Why is he so patient?
Jehovah has good reason for showing patience. It is true that he holds ultimate authority over the universe at all times; still, the rebellion in Eden raised questions of universal importance. Jehovah has been patient, knowing that it would take time to answer those questions perfectly. It was Jehovah’s purpose that the descendants of Adam and Eve fill the earth. To fulfill his purpose and vindicate his sovereignty, Jehovah has exercised great self-control and patience, even waiting thousands of years for some aspects of his purpose to work out the best way.
God knows that before he can provide righteous humans with a secure and prosperous home, he will have to “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” However, because he loves humans, Jehovah “does not desire any to be destroyed.” Consequently, our heavenly Father has been patiently trying “to warn the wicked one from his wicked way.” To that end, Jehovah is having the message about his Kingdom preached worldwide. All who respond favorably to God’s warning and bring their life into harmony with his righteous principles will be granted salvation and enjoy everlasting life on a paradise earth.
Jehovah is patient despite extreme provocation, as we can see from the way he dealt with wickedness before the Flood. He would not tolerate that situation forever, so he determined to bring a flood upon disobedient mankind. While “the patience of God was waiting in Noah’s days,” Jehovah made preparations to save Noah and his family. At this time, we have the God-given work of warning people and telling them how they can be saved. Clearly, Jehovah’s patience does not mean that he is simply waiting for time to pass. No, we should never confuse his patience with inattentiveness or apathy!
Whether we have served God for a few months or for several decades, we want to serve him forever. Patience helps us to endure until we gain salvation, no matter how much time remains in this system. What practical steps can we take to strengthen our faith, building up our patience? It is key that we apply God’s counsel.Another way to develop patience is by considering how we should view the world and our personal circumstances. Try to look at matters as Jehovah does. He has long been pained when humans suffer; yet, he has not been overcome with grief, incapable of doing good. By considering the patience of Jehovah, we are helped both to appreciate and to cultivate that quality. It is not easy for imperfect humans to cultivate patience, but it can be done.
There is no need to fear the future or even death. Those who patiently endure to the end will be saved. So we must make sure that we do not allow the world to seduce us and make us stop relying on Jehovah. Instead, we must be determined to grow in faith and use the time of God’s patience wisely.

Just Me...ranting
Dear Black Rabbit's Dirty-old-notebook,
Where on the earth are you? I've been missing you big time. Where are the nights when I squander about two hours of letting my pen dance on you? I remember those nights, those beautiful nights, when I just lay under fuzzy light, and let my lush and free imagination plug away, so that I could have something to scribe on you. Those days, when all was young and blossoming. When butterflies inside the stomach is a common thing. When smiles can tickle pink. The scent of puberty. And when my stories were hot issues. Wink! Those spontaneously-written novels of mine, when I think about them I'm having goosebumps. With those corny stories about young love, friendship and all. And with those goofy drawings, ha-ha. Am I trying to be a mangaka? Those times, when you, my notebook, was the most popular thing in the class. Those silly times, when my classmates were upset for not updating you. Those awesome moments, after reading, they leave cliffhanged. Hihi. On behalf of my old classmates, I thank you for the memories, the tears, the laughs, the squeals, the giggles, the sighs, the thump-thumps, the fantasies, the cheers, the oh-nos, the arguments, the alliances, the heartache, the heartbreak, the bliss, the tingles, the tangles, the flutters, the gasps, the nail-biting and the fun times.

The Princess's Man
Another korean drama that I've been looking forward to ended last night. And I must admit that I've mentally prepared myself for a cry-fest and surely cried myself to river to some scenes. Epic, moving, suspenseful and superbly paced, that's how I described this romantic melodrama and premium sageuk entitled The Princess's Man. I'm not a huge fan of sageuk dramas (you know, history) but I watch them for the fact that sageuk dramas are korean dramas. Well, the adults in the family, especially my mom (history buff) is a huge fan. She love sageuk like Dae Jang Geum (Jewel in The Palace), Jumong, and Queen Seon Deok. But I'm kind of loving it now. I'm starting to believe it's hereditary.
For those of you who are not familiar with kdramas, Sageuk refers specifically to historical drama. I mean, old school, dynasty thing, antiqued speech and costumes. Ok, back to this drama, you see, it ended in a way I didn't expect. Surely, like the antagonists are going to die and the main characters will also follow them. My mind is preoccupied with death, death everywhere. Good thing it didn't ended that way. The Princess's Man has been touted, more than anything, as a Joseon-era Romeo and Juliet story. While the Romeo and Juliet comparison is certainly appropriate given the star-crossed-lovers premise, this drama bring so much more. There’s political intrigue that’s fast-changing and compelling. But for me, this drama is not depressing. There’s conflict and angst and romantic tension, but it’s not drawn out in a gloomy, mournful way. It also shows a fathers love to his daughter. And oh, it was based on Korean true history, I mean some characters are real and lived centuries ago in Joseon era. In almost every respect, The Princess’s Man delivers a solid, emotional, gripping storytelling punch.I have to admit that the drama didn't get me straight in the heart even though mentally I was completely engaged. (Even though, it didn't get straight in the heart, I had this cry-me-a river thing, these eyes fault!)
Don't expect me to be recapping kdramas here, I'm a lazy thinker. Just bare with the rantings and whatsoever.

My Father is Superman
This day I've realized that....
because he is strong and maybe we can be his kryptonite. But we never want to be his weakness, instead we want to be his strength. We're sorry that sometimes we're such a pain in the ass or in the neck.Haha! He will always be my brother's first hero and my (and my sister's) first love.

Answer Me, 1997
A person’s heart has countless levels. Its depth cannot be known. Its limit can’t be known. You could fight to the death, and then exchange affection as if nothing ever happened. A red-blooded male could turn into an imbecile in front of the opposite sex. Yes, the truth is uncomfortable. But if we don’t embrace that discomfort, then we must live the rest of our lives believing what’s fake to be real. Even uncomfortable truths must be embraced. What you see is not everything.
“Bumping into someone on the street, reaching for the same book at the library, or running under someone’s umbrella… I thought that falling in love would be special. I couldn’t imagine… that I’d fall because of something like this.”
I knew in that moment, that when you like someone, you have eyes for her in the sides and the back of your head. And that if you don’t knock, there will be no answer. Standing in place will not get you what you want. There’s no such thing as fair play anymore.
The laws of human development.
A boy becomes a man, and a girl becomes a woman.
But the boy who became a man and the reckless girl who has not yet fully matured,
If the speed is different, a problem occurs.

The SungKyunKwan Scandal
Dear Black Rabbit's erratically beating heart,
Be still. Heart failure due to "excessive excitement over cute scenes" as the cause of death is just plain embarrassing. Thank you for this korean drama for having this insomniac lifestyle these days. I'm loving the second lead characters. O.M.G.! I'm dying. Creepy fangirling.
And NO, I will not be reviewing this one 'coz I'm so out of words with I-don't-want-to-think-right-now mood.
